Which Hospitals We List, Merge or Reject
A hospital directory becomes low quality when it creates pages for every generic keyword. Our listing policy keeps the site focused on useful hospital-location intent: real hospitals, campuses, branches, suburbs and user tasks such as address, contact, appointment and visiting information.
Eligible Pages
- A real public hospital, private hospital, day hospital or recognised hospital campus with a traceable official source.
- A hospital branch or campus in a specific suburb, city, regional town, state or territory.
- A hospital plus practical intent such as address, phone number, appointment, emergency department, outpatient clinic, patient portal, visiting hours, parking or medical records.
- Same hospital network with different locations when each location has a separate address or patient-service pathway.
- A common hospital-name variation that can be merged into a single canonical page without losing user intent.
Pages We Reject or Merge
| Keyword/Page type | Action |
|---|---|
| Generic ‘hospital near me’ | Usually rejected unless it maps to a local hospital-location guide with real entities. |
| Hospitality, hotel or non-health keyword | Rejected as non-hospital intent. |
| Veterinary or animal hospital | Rejected for this site unless a separate veterinary directory is created. |
| Jobs, careers and salary-only queries | Rejected unless the site later builds a dedicated careers directory with official HR links. |
| Disease, treatment or symptom pages | Rejected because the site is not for medical advice. |
| Duplicate same hospital + same location | Merged into one canonical page with alternate terms handled in copy or SEO metadata. |
| Same hospital + different campus/location | Kept separately when the address and user journey are different. |
Canonicalisation Rule
If several keywords point to the same hospital and the same user need, we publish one strong page rather than thin duplicate pages. For example, a hospital name plus “address”, “phone number” and “contact” can be covered on one page. But a hospital network with campuses in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth may need separate location pages because users are searching for different addresses and appointment routes.
Hospital Requests
A hospital can send a factual correction, updated phone number, campus URL or official contact page. We verify and update factual details. We do not publish unsupported marketing claims, unverifiable awards, patient testimonials or clinical superiority claims.
